The lore consistency checker is now free, with no account

The consistency check has been the most-used feature inside Fantasy Writer since it shipped, and the most awkward to explain to anyone who has not tried it. So it is now available to everyone, outside the product, with nothing to fill in first.

How it works

Give it up to ten canonical facts about your world — the sort of thing that lives in a lore bible — and one scene. It returns the three checks that matter most, each one quoting the phrase in your scene that triggered it.

It flags three kinds of thing:

• Contradictions, where the scene states something that cannot be true given your facts
• Unsupported details, where the scene asserts something your facts neither support nor deny
• Confirmations, where the scene actively agrees with a fact

The middle category is used sparingly on purpose. Invention is not an error in fiction, and a checker that flagged every new detail as a problem would be useless within a page.

What it is not

It is a demonstration, not the full feature. The version inside the studio checks a whole chapter against your entire lore bible, follows links between entries to find facts the scene never names, and remembers what it found. This one takes what you paste and nothing else.

It is also shared. Everyone using it draws on one pool, so it is rate-limited per visitor and occasionally rests when the pool runs dry for the day. If it tells you it is resting, that is what happened — try tomorrow, or make a free account and get your own allowance.

Why free

Because the thing that distinguishes this product is hard to describe and instant to demonstrate. Explaining retrieval-grounded continuity checking takes three paragraphs. Watching it catch that your one-eyed archer just aimed with the wrong eye takes four seconds.
