Fantasy Writer

Writing is lonely. This part doesn’t have to be.

A Discord for people who take invented worlds seriously — authors mid-manuscript, readers with opinions, and anyone who has ever redrawn a map because the rivers were wrong.

The server opens shortly — the invite will appear here.

What’s in there.

Talk about books

What you are reading, what you gave up on, and the one series everyone should stop recommending. Readers and writers in the same room, deliberately.

Worldbuilding workshop

Post a magic system and have it stress-tested. Ask why your map's rivers run uphill. The genre's oldest pleasure is arguing about invented details with people who take them seriously.

Work in progress

Share a scene, ask for a second pair of eyes, find a beta reader. Critique is opt-in — nobody gets edited who did not ask.

Help and feedback

Bugs, feature requests, and the occasional argument about pricing. Feature requests raised here are read by the person who writes the code.

House rules.

Short, and enforced. A community with no rules is not more free; it is simply governed by whoever is loudest.

  • Be decent to each other. Disagree about books, not about people.
  • Critique the writing, not the writer — and only when it has been asked for.
  • No spam, no self-promotion outside the channel for it, no AI-generated filler posted as conversation.
  • Spoilers get tagged. Fantasy readers have long memories and longer books.
  • No piracy, no posting someone else's manuscript, no scraping the server.

Not a Discord person?

Fair enough. The library is open to everyone without an account, and you can rate and review anything you read there with a free one. Nothing on this site requires you to be sociable.
