Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. This page lists every one we set and what it is for.

Optional local draft recovery

The chapter editor offers a separate, off-by-default recovery setting. If you enable it, this browser stores an unencrypted copy of unsaved writing and your recovery preference in local storage. It is not analytics and is not automatically sent to AI. Do not enable it on a shared device. Expired copies are removed when recovery next runs after seven days; use your browser’s clear site data option to erase all copies and the preference immediately.

Consent

We use Google Tag Manager for website measurement, which runs under your consent: the container loads with consent signals switched to denied, and measurement tags fire only if you allow them. The banner asks on your first visit; the Cookie settings link in the footer reopens the choice at any time, and withdrawing consent takes effect on the next page you open.

Anything marked analytics below is set only after you consent to it. Everything else on this list is strictly necessary and needs no permission.

Turning them off

Every browser lets you block or delete cookies. Blocking these ones will sign you out and prevent checkout from working, because they are the mechanism by which those things work — but the reading library and the free tools will still function.

We do not use local storage or similar technologies for tracking. The studio stores a small amount of interface state in your browser, such as which panel you had open; none of it leaves your device.
